We had an incredible two days with Cangelosi Sparks North Baseball in Bensenville. Caliburn had a Bat Demo Day at the Bo Dome where we could show off all of our bat models.
First and foremost, thank you to Dan Brewer of Sparks North Baseball and The Good Man Show Podcast for allowing us to showcase our bats to his team and to Ray Murphy for all the help setting up at the Bo Dome. Opportunities like this may seem small, but they mean everything to a growing our brand.
What Is a Caliburn Demo Day?
A Demo Day is simple.
We bring our full lineup of models to a facility and let players swing them in real reps inside the cage. No guessing. No blind ordering. Just feel, balance, barrel profile and feedback.
Players were walking in and out of the cage swapping models, testing differences, and figuring out what felt right.
Here’s what stood out:
-
A Model – Balanced feel that a lot of hitters gravitated toward.
-
BM Model – Bigger barrel for players looking for that extra presence through the zone.
-
DC & MC Models – Subtle handle differences that players could actually feel immediately.
-
JM Model – That comfortable cone shaped knob that just locks into your hands.
-
The Torpedo – The surprise of Day 2. The Torpedo quickly became one of the most popular bats at the event. It’s one of those models you have to swing to understand. Players kept coming back for “just one more round” with it.
Coaches, Customers & Familiar Faces
One of the best parts of the weekend was running into coaches and customers who already swing Caliburn. A few coaches showed up with their Caliburn fungos. One asked about the new fungo he just ordered. Another joked he was hoping his Caliburn fungo would break… just so he’d have an excuse to buy another one.
We’ll take that as a compliment.
We also had a customer who originally bought one of our custom art bats during our Black Friday Open Shop Day. After trying more models in the cage, he ordered another Caliburn on the spot.
The player who originally requested the JM model with the comfortable flared handle was there and other players got to swing his model.
Caliburn Staff Took Their Cuts Too
It wasn’t just the players.
-
Don took his first swings with a Caliburn! Can you believe that? As a former college pitcher, he didn’t get many at-bats back in the day. He sent the video to his son (currently playing in college), who replied: “Stick to pitching.”
-
Julio showed off his smooth lefty power swing, while his dad stepped in to test out the Torpedo.
-
Mario grabbed the JM and started smoking line drives... quickly becoming a fan of that cone shaped knob.
Why We Do This
There’s something different about the sound of wood in a cage.
You could see it on the players’ faces... the focus, the feedback, the excitement. Wood forces you to stay disciplined. When you barrel it up, you know it. When you don’t, you know that too.
That’s part of the growth.
We’re grateful to every player who stepped in and gave Caliburn a swing. Your energy and feedback are what push us to keep building better bats.
And again, thank you to Sparks Baseball in Bensenville for making it happen.
