Our first trip to Iowa couldn’t have gone better.
Attending the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Clinic gave Caliburn Bat Company a chance to meet incredible coaches, talk real baseball, and share what we love most... craftsmanship rooted in relationships.
One of the most meaningful parts of the weekend was reconnecting with people who helped shape the journey. Don was able to catch up with his former coach from Upper Iowa University, Rick Heller, who is now the head baseball coach at Iowa Baseball and was a featured speaker at the clinic. Seeing him on stage, sharing knowledge with the next generation of coaches, was a proud moment.
We also reconnected with a former teammate from Don’s playing days as a Peacock, Greg Bodensteiner. To mark the moment, Don gifted both Rick and Greg custom Caliburn bats engraved with the Peacock logo and their names. Simple gestures, but ones that carry a lot of meaning when they represent shared history and respect.
Greg went a step further and gave Caliburn a huge public shoutout, which we truly appreciate. Genuine support like that, unsolicited, and rooted in trust, means everything to an up and coming company like ours.
Moments like these are exactly why we love making bats. Every bat tells a story. Sometimes it’s about performance. Sometimes it’s about legacy. And sometimes, it’s about coming full circle and reconnecting with the people and places that made the game special in the first place.
